Police officials said that due to delays in multiple trains, large passenger congestion caused chaos at the New Delhi train station on Sunday (March 23, 2025), but as police stepped in and managed the situation, there was no “stepped” or injured.

Sources said that due to delays in Shiv Ganga Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Jammu Rajdhani Express, Lucknow Mail and Magadh Express, large crowds gathered on platforms 12 and 13 of the station.

As the rush increases, necessary crowd control measures must be taken immediately to avoid any adverse events, a senior police officer said.

“It’s better”

Deputy Police Chief (Railway) KPS Malhotra said: “There were some extra crowds and rushes, but no stampede occurred. Later, there were a few trains left and the situation was better. No one was injured…”

In February 2025, when passengers were waiting to board the train to Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, 18 people, including women and children, were killed after the train station erupted.
