Telangana Transportation and British Columbia Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress party would file a complaint with the election committee against the BJP for threatening voters to vote on religious identity and refer to it as non-Hindu. He wants the Election Commission to take note of “public” statements.
Strongly condemning the union minister and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay urged Hindutva supporters to vote for the BJP in the upcoming partisan elections of the Legislative Council for the election of the Legislative Council of Hyderabad, regardless of its party affiliation, Mr Prabhakar called the statement a blatant attempt to conduct a poll.
Mr Prabhakar claimed Mr Sanjay repeatedly said, “If you do not vote for the BJP, you are not Hindu” and called it an incitement and a violation of the code of conduct. “If people don’t vote for the BJP, are they not Hindus?” Mr. Prabhakar asked and suggested that elections should be held on issues and ideological rather than religious provocations. He found that the BJP had provocative banners in the company’s residence.
He said the BJP has no numbers but wants to join the competition to create Hindutva Frenzy. Of the 112 votes in these elections, MIM won a significant majority with 50 votes, followed by BJP and BRS with 24 votes each, while Congress voted 14 votes. “How will BJP win?” he asked.
Mr Prabhakar claimed that BJP and BRS were originally intended to compete together, but BRS realized that this would not win a majority. The minister also condemned BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s recent controversial remarks about the constitution and the judiciary and sought his suspension of the party’s remarks. He claimed that the BJP leaders stirred people on the one hand and pretended to defend the institutions on the other hand.
The Congress party launched the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” program with the aim of uncovering this dual nature of the BJP and reaffirming its commitment to constitutional values. “We believe in democracy. They believe in dictatorship,” he said.
