A woman’s charred body found in Thiruvananthapuram; police detain a partner

The body of a woman was found on an abandoned conspiracy near Kaimanam in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Thursday night (May 15, 2025).
Her relatives identified the deceased as Karumom resident Sheeja early Friday morning. The body was found in Kuttikkattil Lane, near the residential area.
According to preliminary reports, Sheeja is suspected to have died at around 10:30 p.m.
Residents in the area reported hearing a woman’s scream at about the same time. But when the help arrives, it’s too late. Shortly thereafter, Kalamana police were alerted and the body was transferred to the Tiruvanat Provincial Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) after the investigation procedures on Friday.
Suspected foul game
The incident happened near Saji Kumar’s residence, with which Sheeja was reportedly in a romantic relationship. Her family filed serious foul charges, claiming Saji had a criminal background and a history of attacking Sheeja.
Her cousin Suresh claims that Saji has recently caused a commotion in a store near MCH, where Sheeja works as a salesperson.
Saji has been detained by Kalamana police for inquiries.
General Education and Labor Minister V. Sivankutty, representing the fallen Nemom Parliamentary Constituency in the area, visited the site and guaranteed a thorough and transparent investigation.
