The group of billionaire Gautam Adani has signed a deal with US undersea warfare company Sparton to develop electronic sensors and navigation systems that can be used in the anti-Marlin warfare, the group said on Sunday.
It said in a statement that Adani Defense & Aerospace has signed a binding cooperation agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC) to assemble an anti-naval warfare (ASW) solution for the Indian Navy.
The partnership aims to position the gathering of Sonobuoys and other ASW systems in India under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative. This will be the first private company in India to provide indigenous vocal enterprise solutions to the Indian Navy.
Based in De Leon Springs, Florida, Sparton develops, produces and provides electronic systems to support the undersea warfare of U.S. Navy and Allied military forces. The company was acquired by Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. in December 2020.
The deal came after the Adani Group established a joint venture partnership with Israeli weapons giant Elbit Systems in 2018 to produce the deadly Hermes 900 drone. In 2020, Adani-Elbit announced the production of “mini” drone weapons.
Adani Group also works with the Israeli weapon industry to manufacture assault weapons, sniper rifles and machine guns.

The partnership will combine Spartaton’s pioneering ASW technology with Adani Defense’s established expertise in Indian Navy development, manufacturing and maintenance.
Sonobuoys is a mission-critical platform for raising awareness of the submarine domain (UDA), providing an effective means to detect, locate and track submarines and other underwater threats. They played a key role in the Anti-Aristocratic War (ASW) and other naval operations, and they supported the maintenance of naval security and protection of airline strike groups.
Sparton produces electronic sensor systems, navigation systems and subsea warfare delivery systems.
