Advanced Security Review Conference in Tirumala

An advanced security review meeting was convened on Thursday at Annamaiah Bhavan, Tirumala, to assess and strengthen security arrangements in the temple town. Senior police officer Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and various security agencies attended the meeting, chaired by Shemushi, Dig Dig of Anantapur Range.
Mr. Shemushi stressed that the terrorist incidents such as the Pahalgam attack and the main purpose were to strengthen the security of the temple and ensure the safety of the pilgrims, prompted by the recent horror incidents. She also called for seamless coordination between all security forces and TTD departments.
The TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) and Tirupati Urban SP Harshavardhan Raju conducted a detailed PowerPoint presentation, outlining the May 2023 security audit proposal, as well as the latest news based on the current situation, and highlighting the need for a protocol to address evolving security challenges.
Officials also discussed the development of standard operating procedures (SOP) for all security departments, including APSP, DAR, SPF, Home Guards, Civil Police and TTD’s own security personnel. The need for comprehensive training of private security personnel and all access control teams was also emphasized.
The proposed meeting proposes enhanced surveillance and protection measures at 14 key forest entrance points in the Seshachalam range, including the Talakona, Mamanduru, Tumburu Theertham and Mangalam routes.
The main highlight of the conference was the decision to train safety personnel in chemistry, biology, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Anti-sabotage strategies, plans for simulation exercises and evacuation exercises are also discussed to ensure any emergency preparedness.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including SP Garud Sumit Sunil (Greyhound Commander), ISW SP Arif Hafeez, Tirupati DFO Vivek Anand, and others.
