Karnataka Home Secretary G. Parameshwara confirmed on Tuesday that a man shouted “Pakistan Cindabad” in a cricket match, about 10 people were involved in the incident. Parameshwara said in an interview with reporters: “According to reports, the mob lynching incident…the local cricket match was in progress, unidentified people shouted “Zindabad Pakistan”… Very few people gathered together to beat him and beat him… Later he died, he died… 10-12 people were arrested…”
He added that further investigations are underway and calls on the public for peace and harmony. The incident occurred after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam caused 26 people, mainly tourists, and tensions between India and Pakistan increased. In response to the attack, India has suspended the Indian Waters Treaty and revoked all valid visas issued to Pakistani citizens. “All existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals,” the Foreign Ministry said in a recent statement.
