Air India, other airlines suspend flights in Tel Aviv after Houthi missiles hit Ben Gurion Airport

Air India and other Indian airlines suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 6, causing six injuries to injured, after a ballistic missile fired by Iran-backed Houthis attacked Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday morning. The airline's AI139 flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv was transferred to Abu Dhabi where it landed safely. According to an Air India spokesman, the flight will return to Delhi soon.

Following the incident, Air India announced a waiver for customers who booked valid tickets between May 4 and May 6, allowing them to reschedule flights or receive a full refund for cancellation. “Related to the development of Tel Aviv this morning, our operations to and from Tel Aviv will be suspended immediately until May 6, 2025 to ensure the safety of our customers and employees. Our colleagues are on site to help customers and help them with other arrangements.”

It added: “Customers who book on our flights who have valid tickets between 4 and 6 May 2025 will receive a one-time waiver for rescheduling or full refund for cancellation. We would like to reiterate that the safety of our customers and crew remains a priority at Air India.”
