Ford recalls 2020-2022 Ford Explorer: Ford recalls 33,756 cars in the United States. Have your vehicle been affected?

Ford issued another safety recall, this time a source of ignition that could trigger a fire risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Ford Motor Company is recalling some U.S. cars (2020-2022 Ford Explorer) because fuel leaks can increase the risk of fires in the presence of ignition sources such as thermal engines or exhaust components. NHTSA said customers can achieve information about the suitability of this operation to a specific vehicle by contacting Ford’s free phone number or by contacting a local dealer.

“Information about the suitability of this operation to a particular vehicle can be obtained through a free call called Ford (1-866-436-7332), or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln local dealer who can get specific information about the vehicle from the Ford Online Automation Service Information System (OASIS) database.

Why did Ford recall the vehicle?

According to Ford records, some 2020-2022 My Ford Explorer Vehicles have no remedies for safe recall, but have been recorded as repair
Completed successfully. According to the recall notice, the affected vehicles were manufactured through a 3-minute axle design.

“On some units the rear axle horizontal mount bolt may fracture. Powertrain torque through the driveline causes axle rotation of the pinion angled towards the subframe, which exerts a bending force on the rear axle bolt. Peak torque is normally experienced during a launch event. After numerous peak torque events are experienced, the bolt may suffer a fatigue failure, which will lead to the axle housing moving out of position, resulting in a condition described by customer and dealer technicians with loud, polished, bound or clumsy noise variable.”
Owners will be notified by email with instructions to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for PCM software updates. After the update, the software part number will be used with the software verification form before closing the FSA. This service will be available for free.

Ford also outlines the general reimbursement plan for car owners who incur repair costs before receiving a safety recall in May 2023. Owners who previously paid for these repairs may be eligible for reimbursement under the recall reimbursement program filed with the NHTSA.

The development was when Ford Motor recalled more than 144,000 Ford Mavericks vehicles in the United States for the Ford Mavericks, when the vehicle was reversed, the rearview camera image was frozen. The Safe Recall 25S19 was released on March 14 and involves certain 2025 Lincoln Pilots, 2024-2025 Ford Mustangs, 2025 Explorer, 2024-2025 F-150, 2025 Mustangs and 2025 Rangers.

According to the recall notice, the problem is that the transmission main body does not meet manufacturing specifications, which sounds like another quality control issue for Ford. One sign is a problem that the vehicle may not reverse when the gearbox is placed in the reverse gear.
