What is a Truth Society, the social media platform owned by Donald Trump, PM Modi just joined

Truth Society – Style for Truth – is a global social networking service launched by the Trump Media & Technology Group, which is mainly owned by Trump. It’s similar to the design and features of X (formally called Twitter before Elon Musk acquired the platform).

People in India suddenly talk about the truth about social media platforms socializing, otherwise it wasn’t very popular in the country, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently joined it.
PM Modi mentioned India’s relationship with the United States or US President Donald Trump in the first few articles on the platform. “I’m glad to be socialized!” he wrote in his first post.
But what is truth social?

“Alt-Tech” network similar to X
Truth Society – Style for Truth – is a global social networking service launched by the Trump Media & Technology Group, which is mainly owned by Trump.
It’s similar to the design and features of X (formally called Twitter before Elon Musk acquired the platform).
It is often described as “Alt-Tech” – an alternative technology – in the sense that it seeks to provide alternatives to mainstream social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. The Alt-Tech platform is known for using a large number of broader content review strategies.

Launched after banning Trump
The Truth Society was banned from developing on Twitter and Facebook after Trump’s January 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol in January 2021. Trump’s supporters stormed into the government building after the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and Trump lost.
The platform was launched in February 2022. It is available on the web, as well as an app store for Android and iOS devices.

Regulatory and economic struggle
Truth Social has faced regulatory and financial problems since its launch three years ago. Google’s Play Store initially did not allow the app to be used on Android devices because it found that the app violated its policies against incitement of violence.
Companies that control the Truth Society were once worth nearly $11 billion, but lost $58 million by the end of 2023.
In May 2024, the company reported a loss of $327 million in the first quarter of the year.
