Thanjavur Taluk police have arrested Panneerselvam, Surakottai, near Thanjavur, for “abuse” of a female policewoman.
The crime was committed on Friday in Surakottai, according to sources, when the head of the Orathanadu police station asked a group that intercepted her private bus to Thanjavur.
When the group members quarreled with bus personnel, she condemned them for trying to appease the group members affected by alcohol during the funeral parade held in Surakottai the same day.
However, the two were identified as Surakottai’s Panneerselvam and Rahul Gandhi abused her, which was recorded on the cell phone by the chief police officer. Later, she filed a complaint with Thanjavur Taluk police, who registered the case on Saturday and arrested Panneerselvam. The source added that police were looking for Rahul Gandhi.
