The main defendant Sudheesh Unni then cut off the victim’s leg, threw it on the road, and fled. Ottakam Rajesh is a strong criminal who records records involving multiple murders and has been identified as the mastermind of the carefully planned murder case.

After the murder, Rajesh used the cell phones of acquaintances he encountered while running away to contact relatives and friends, hiding from Kanyakumari to Palani in frequent changing locations. Despite such challenges, Pothencode police tracked over 100 call data records and tower locations to his whereabouts and eventually zero. The breakthrough was made when the defendant used a borrowed phone at a medical store in Palani.

While searching for the defendant, a 27-year-old civil policeman, S. Balu, drowned in a hat on an Anjuthengu Lake near Vakkom, a 27-year-old civil policeman, who was believed to have been hidden.

The investigation team led by Nedumangad Dysp MK Zulfikar at the time submitted the final charge form within 88 days.
