Haryana police said the alleged spy was arrested on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) for allegedly providing sensitive information to certain people in Pakistan.
The suspect Nauman Ilahi (24) is from Kairana, Uttar Pradesh, who works as a private security guard in the area, said on Wednesday (May 14, 2025).
“…(Irahi) is in contact with certain people in Pakistan and providing them with sensitive information,” said Karnal SP Ganga Ram Punia, also known as Panipat SP as an additional charge for Panipat SP.
Asked who Mr. Ellahi stayed in touch, Mr. Punya said: “These things are part of the investigation. We grabbed his cell phone and further investigations are underway.”
Mr Iloshi’s arrest comes after a recent military confrontation with Pakistan following a recent Pakistani terrorist attack in Pakistan.
India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to stop all shooting and military operations on land, air and oceans, effective immediately after four days of fierce cross-border drone and missile strikes, which put both countries on the brink of a total war.
The arrest was another incident that followed, with Punjab police saying they arrested two people, including a woman, for allegedly involved in espionage activities related to a Pakistani official published by the Delhi High Commissioner Committee.
