A Missouri man allegedly sought legal advice from Google shortly after brutally killing his child’s mother.
Karl Mayberry, 34, was charged with murdering his partner, Alvatyne Thomas, 31, and then searched the internet for “first-degree murder defense” in December 2021, “He can say she said she was used in the murder case in Missouri’s state’.
Mayberry, who shared his child with Thomas, was detained Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder in the 2021 homicide.
Thomas, the mother of Mayberry’s child, was found dead while being handed a welfare check at an Oregon Avenue apartment in St. Louis on December 27, 2021 by St. Louis Metropolitan Police.
Upon arriving at the scene, police said they had entered the home and were dead when they saw Thomas’s, “a plastic bag with stickers on her head.”
“She was shot on her back, swollen on her forehead and a visible defensive wound on her hands,” the affidavit said.
“She seems to have tilted her body, too.”

Authorities said Merribury initially claimed he had been at work when Thomas died, but colleagues objected to his unreliable Billians, telling police he had been missing for several hours that day, just returning in different clothes and clearly feeling pain.
“Officers interviewed several colleagues, who said the defendant had been missing for several hours in the relevant time frame,” the affidavit read.
“When he came back, he was wearing different clothes and showed emotion.”
Maybury also allegedly sent a message to someone claiming that Thomas was “detected dead in the kitchen with a plastic bag wrapped around her head” – a detail that has not been made public.
He was also accused of sending text messages to criminal defense attorneys asking how much it would cost to “defend the murder.”
During the years-long investigation, Thomas’ family told police that her abused relationship with Mayberry was reported.
After Mayberry’s arrest on Wednesday, Thomas’ sisters expressed relief and frustration, saying they finally filed accusations of gratitude but questioned why it took more than three years to serve justice.

Johnson added that she felt “happy” about Mayberry’s arrest, but felt “justice will be served forever” due to the cruel killing.
“I’m happy, but at the same time, I won’t feel that justice will be served forever. She’s gone, we’ll never let her come back. “The kids can never see her again, but he can still eat, take a shower, use the bathroom and use the bathroom,” Johnson said.
Mayberry has no bond at the St. Louis Justice Center.
According to the law and crime, court records show that Thomas was in lawsuits at the time of his death due to his pre-conviction for the assault.
