Alliance Government systematically demolishes MNREGS structure: YSRCP

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) claimed on Tuesday that the state’s alliance National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is systematically demolishing the MNREGS structure.

Former MLA Monditoka Jaganmohan Rao said at a press conference held in the party office that since the NDA came to power, MNREGS is a program designed to empower rural communities, aiming to empower rural communities. He said the government has fired 12,000 field aides, stopped payrolls since March 15 and cuts working days from 45 million from April 2023 to April 2024-25 under the YSRCP in April 2023-24.

The former MLA said a woman from Viparintalapadu village in Chandarlapadu Mandal, Nandigama constituency, ended her life after being publicly humiliated by a live assistant under MNREGS. He said the woman recorded a videotape revealing false summoning volumes and unrestricted corruption that she did not report to protect the livelihoods of 200 workers. Her sacrifice demanded accountability, he said, but TDP leaders appeared to cover up the defendants and exposed their hypocrisy.

“A former teacher and active TDP worker recorded a video before ending his life, explicitly accusing the field assistant of insults and exposing the corruption of the program,” he said, adding that her demands for justice for MLA Tangirala Soumya and her husband were boredly ignored. Police registered her death as suspicious and her husband used stomach pain as a cause. He added that this shameful behavior was the failure of the coalition government to value women’s lives and protect rural workers.
