The National Bureau of Investigation (NIA) argued on April 10 in a court in Delhi that it suspected that the terrorist operation similar to the 26/11 Mumbai attack was designed by major conspirator Tahawwur Rana to target multiple Indian cities.
The NIA filed a claim with Special Judge Chander Jit Singh, who remanded Rana to 18 days of NIA custody.
The judge followed the order instructed the NIA to conduct medical examinations on RANA every 24 hours and allowed him to meet with his lawyer every day.

The judge allowed Rana to use only one soft-tip pen and meet with his attorney in the presence of NIA officials within the auditory distance.
During the debate, the NIA said Rana’s custody was asked to piece together the entire scope of the entire plot and made a request that he was taken to various locations to trace the events that occurred 17 years ago.
“His (Rana) extension of custody was seen as necessary to facilitate extensive interrogation designed to reveal the deeper level of the conspiracy. We suspect that the tactics used in the Mumbai attack were also intended to be implemented in other cities, prompting investigators to prompt researchers to examine similar plots elsewhere,” Nia is publicized.
To aggregate vital evidence and trace the incident 17 years ago, officials may have transported Lana to critical sites, allowing them to rebuild the crime scene and gain a deeper understanding of the larger terrorist networks that work, the source added.

Rana will be in NIA detention for 18 days, during which the agency plans to “question him in detail to reveal the complete conspiracy behind the deadly attack in 2008”, which killed 166 people and wounded more than 238.
