Amal Clooney

Amal Clooney, the wife of internationally renowned human rights lawyer and actor George Clooney, may target Israeli leaders for suspected war crimes with the International Criminal Court (ICC), Financial Times Reported.
Clooney, a British citizen and a respected figure in international law, allegedly provided legal advice to the International Criminal Court when the ICC reviewed cases involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The case is related to war crimes committed by Israel during ongoing military operations in Gaza.
Although Clooney is not the official prosecutor for the matter, her consulting role may become the basis for future visas under legislation passed by the U.S. Congress in 2019. This law authorizes individual sanctions or visa bans on efforts to participate in an ICC-related investigation or prosecute U.S. citizens or allied officials.
George Clooney is Amal’s 11-year-old husband and a U.S. citizen. The couple owns multiple properties in the United States and they also share two children. If visa restrictions are applied, this could complicate Amar’s ability to travel to the United States and her ability to have family or attend work-related activities.
Historically, the United States has had tensions with the International Criminal Court, especially when the court investigates the actions of American allies such as Israel. The potential impact on Amal Clooney has attracted attention from the legal and diplomatic community, especially on the intersection of international law, human rights advocacy and geopolitical tensions.
As of Tuesday, neither Amal Clooney nor the U.S. State Department has formally commented on the report.
