Amaravati has always been the capital of Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has begun efforts to continue to make Amaravati the only capital of the future and further accelerate the speed of capital engineering aimed at completing construction within three years.
Since 2014, approximately 29,000 Amaravati farmers have provided 34,000 acres of land under the Land Gathering Program to build capital and fully support the tripartite alliance led by Telugu Desam in the 2024 elections.
Naidu had promised to continue as Andhra Pradesh’s capital Amaravati during the elections, which was supported by Jana Sena founders K Pawan Kalyan and BJP, who instilled confidence among capital farmers and helped the alliance achieve a landslide victory.
Amaravati farmers met with CM several times and urged him to take strong measures to protect Amaravati as the sole capital of the AP without the need to modify the decision in the future regardless of the state’s government changes regularly.
It is worth noting that Sections 2 and 5 of the Associated Press Reorganization Act mention that Hyderabad will serve as joint capital ten years after the state fork in 2014. After this, Hyderabad will continue to serve as the capital of Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh will have its own capital. However, the bill does not specify the name of the new capital of AP – which gives the YSRC government the idea of ”3 capitals”.
At the time Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed the idea of making Visakhapatnam an administrative capital, Kurnool is the judicial capital, and Amaravati is the legislative capital. However, the Supreme Court has created uncertainty in its legal challenges and cases against its plans.
The Naidu government plans to add 40,000 acres of land to the international airport in Amaravati. MLAs in the capital region, including Tenali Sravan Kumar, B Praveen and others, encourage farmers to provide land under LP.
At a meeting, locals (mainly farmers) said that the status of Amaravati should be guaranteed as the sole capital will be the same in the future.
Amaravati farmers who have already provided land under LPS urged CM Naidu to amend the fork method to designate Amaravati as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh to seize any future challenges. Therefore, the CM decided to include the name of Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh and in the AP National Reorganization Act.
This is to amend the bill. Naidu proposed the resolution at a recent cabinet meeting, unanimously adopted the resolution and sent it to the central government to take necessary actions.
Like the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the area under the jurisdiction of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will form part of Amalawati, officials said.
Naidu said there is no power in the future after it is included in the APSRA. “We have restored all construction works in Amaravati and aim to complete these tasks in the next three years,” he said.
Information Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said the people of Andhra Pradesh have been concerned about their capital over the past five years, due to the Three-Shu Mansion Theory. “Now, Amalawati will become the capital of the country and realize the aspirations of the people of Andhra.”
