Amritsar power outage recovers during civil defense drills; DPRO urges residents not to panic

The power outage in Amritsar is part of a national civil defense simulation exercise ordered by the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) to inspect emergency preparedness in the event of future threats. The exercise involves power outages in major locations across the country.
Speaking about the previous power outage in Amritsar, Asi Jagtar Singh told Ani: “The power outage is between 10.30 pm and 11 pm, between half an hour and a half. The indication is that there should be no light.
Similar power outages have been observed in several states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Himaal Pradesh and Bihar. Cities such as Barmer, Gwalior, Surat, Shimla and Patna are involved by closing lights in key buildings and public spaces. In the national capital, Delhi, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Vijay Chowk also conducted drills in the dark. Patna's Raj Bhavan also competed.
Earlier in the day, the Civil Defense Simulation Exercise was conducted in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Gwalier and Jaipur. These exercises are designed to assess how local authorities and citizens respond to emergencies. The national preparation exercise comes after the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindor earlier on Wednesday. This is a retaliatory strike against Pakistan's terrorist infrastructure and Pakistan-occupied Jamu and Kashmir (POJK) in response to the April 22 terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepalese national, were killed.
