U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his stance on ambitious trade plans on Friday and said tariffs will stay here and will strengthen the economy.
The U.S. president said in his social media platform Truth Social that large businesses are not worried about tariffs because they know the tariffs will remain.
“Big businesses are not worried about tariffs because they know they are going to stay here, but they focus on big and beautiful deals that will strengthen our economy. Very important. Keep going now!!!” he wrote.
U.S. stocks slid more than 5% on Friday, according to ANI.
Earlier, the U.S. announced a 27% reciprocal tariff on India and said New Delhi imposed high import tariffs on U.S. goods as the Trump administration aims to reduce the country’s trade deficit and boost manufacturing. The move is expected to affect India’s exports to the United States.
PTI reported that the U.S. president should announce higher tariffs on U.S. products imposed worldwide.
