Justice Shameem Akther serves as Chairman of the Telangana Human Rights Commission

Hyderabad: Former High Court Judge Shameem Akther served as chairman of the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) on Thursday.

Retired Selection District Judge Sivadi Praveena and retired IAS official B Kishore serve as members of the committee (judicial and non-judicial) charges, the official press release said.

The appointments were conducted by the Telangana government on April 11. The newly formed committee immediately convened a bench to occupy 300 cases related to so-called human rights violations. The release said the swift action reflects the commission’s commitment to quickly resolve pending complaints and upholding human dignity.

Justice Axer said he, along with members, promptly filed a lawsuit against pending cases. He stressed that the Commission will achieve the objectives of the Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993 by ensuring better protection and promotion of human rights in the state.
