Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approved Draft Order for Subcategory of Predefined Castes

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, approved the draft decree on Tuesday to implement the subcategory of the state’s scheduled caste (SCS).
The Cabinet aims to carry out integrated and equitable development in accordance with a proposal from the Ministry of Social Welfare, and approved the classification of 59 SC communities into three categories based on their population, backwardness and social cohesion.
Addressing the Secretariat, Minister of Water Resources, Nimmala Ramanaidu said that the Cabinet has approved the subcategory and will soon issue a decree.
The government will also issue a Regional Selection Commission (DSC) notice to fill the faculty position, and the SC subcategory will apply to it. He added that the government will fill the teacher positions before the school year begins.
Social Welfare Minister Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy said 12 castes were brought to the first group and assigned a 1% reservation for them. Likewise, the 18 castes that form part of Group II will receive 6.5% of the reservation. The third group consists of 29 castes, which retains 7.5%.
“The ordinance is designed to ensure equitable access to education and job opportunities among SC communities and will be implemented in all 26 districts. Each person will use a 200-point roster system in two 100-point cycles,” the minister said.
Home Minister V. Anita said the government has drawn opinions and suggestions from all caste organizations. Given the 2011 caste census, the entire state will be considered a unit. Once the next census is completed, each region will be considered a unit, she said.
