Anthropomorphism launches new voice assistant feature for Claude Chatbot, competing for Openai

Almost a year after rival Openai started launching similar options for ChatGpt users, Anthropic is about to launch a new voice assistant product for its Claude Chatbot.

The new feature, called “voice mode,” could be released this month and will initially be launched on a limited basis, according to people familiar with the matter. The current plan includes introducing three buttery sounds called Airy, Mellow and UK, as well as Bloomberg News coverage that opens iOS code to the app. However, the release plan may change.

Human executives have previously said the company is adopting voice options, but the specific timetable and details of the release have not been reported. The program’s functionality was discovered in the anthropomorphic code by application researcher M1astra and shared with Bloomberg News, which confirmed the findings. Humans declined to comment.

Voice assistants have become a key feature for AI developers such as Openai and Alphabet Inc. Google, and are expected to change the way people interact with chatbots and make users more productive. However, the rise of AI voice products has also attracted attention to others’ speech. Openai delayed last year’s months to release its voice assistant to work through potential risks.

Founded in 2021 by a former Openai employee, Anthropic has positioned itself as a reliable, security-conscious company that users can trust. The startup also focuses on selling products to businesses.

In recent months, Anthropic has released many new features, including web search tools and coding assistants, to keep pace with OpenAI and other competitors.

On Tuesday, Anthropic announced it will launch a new AI feature called Research that searches the network as well as data from company customers to provide thorough, comprehensive answers supported by citations. The service is similar to Openai’s in-depth study, which was announced in February.

Anthropic says it also adds the ability of Claude users to search for their Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs to simplify their work.
