Anti-war rally blocked in Thrissur

Tensions prevailed near the venue in Sahitya Akademi, Kerala on Saturday night as police blocked an anti-war rally organized by Janakeeya Munnani (People’s Anti-War Front) and began ten activists who prevented censorship before the event began.

The rally aims to convey a message of peace amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, organizers called for dialogue on the conflict and stressed that “war is not the answer”. However, the police intervened before the rally on the grounds of potential threats to law and order.

The Bharatiya Janata party earlier announced opposition to the rally, prompting police alarm to intensify. According to police, permission for the incident was denied because of concerns that it could disrupt law and order in the current sensitive climate.
