AP Photography Minister Vows Nandi Award Program

Andhra Pradesh photography minister Kandula Durgesh announced on Sunday that the state government is actively planning initiatives to strengthen the Telugu film industry. “We are fully aware of the unique geographical and cultural diversity of post-andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The minister highlighted the strengths of AP on Telangana, pointing out the natural beauty and biodiversity of the state, which makes it an ideal place for filming. However, he acknowledged the lack of adequate film infrastructure. To address this gap, the government is preparing a comprehensive film policy under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The policy will focus on developing critical infrastructure, including film studios, dubbing and re-recording theaters, and other basic facilities.

Minister Dugash stressed the government’s commitment to welfare of the Telugu film industry. He assured: “Visakhapatnam will soon become a film center equipped with modern infrastructure comparable to Hyderabad.”

A major aspect of the vision includes the revival of the prestigious Nandi Awards, which have long been the pinnacle of recognition in Telugu films. The award was excluded due to political obstacles and delays, especially after the 2014 fork. Now Andhra Pradesh is determined to restore its legacy.

As part of this revival, the state will soon consult with key stakeholders in the film industry, including actors, directors and producers, to shape a roadmap for progress.

Meanwhile, in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced in 2024 that the “Gaddar Awards” was established to commemorate the outstanding performance of Telugu films, dramas and television stations and mark a new chapter in the cultural landscape of both countries.
