APIIC occupies over 124 acres of Kovur Sugar Factory

Nellol: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy held a crucial meeting with SPSR Nellore regional collector O. Anand to resolve pending payments to farmers and workers and aim to pay carefully.

The main result of the meeting was the proposal to transfer 124 acres of land belonging to the sugar mill to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) to develop an industrial estate. MLA and collectors called on partners to cooperate with the government’s decision, and the leaders of migrant trade union agreed.

Prashanthi Reddy said handing over factory land to APIIC can directly provide jobs for 10,000 people and create indirect opportunities for another 20,000 people. Migrant trade union leaders and labor representatives also participated in the discussion and emphasized the need to quickly clear long-lost membership dues. The MLA urges collectors to initiate the necessary steps to quickly pay payments owed to farmers and workers.

It was agreed that all legal disputes regarding factory reopening and related land issues, which are currently pending in various courts, will be resolved friendly through dialogue and mutual understanding.

During the meeting, both MLA and union leaders acknowledged that reopening sugar mills, which have been non-operating for more than a decade, could be economically unfeasible. Stakeholders agree that alternative solutions should be explored.

After the meeting, Prashanthi Reddy spoke in the media after the meeting, thanking Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his quick response by approving the release of 280 million euros of 280 million euros to factory workers after appealing at the legislative session.

She assured that concerns and suggestions from farmers and union leaders about the future of the factory will be conveyed to the Chief Minister in person. The meeting was attended by Jetti Rajagopal Reddy, Chairman of the Penna Delta Project Committee, and the peasant leaders Gandavarapu Srinivasulu Reddy, Hari Reddy, Thirumuru Ashok Reddy, Jetti Ravindra Reddy and Bezawada Vamsikrishna Reddy.
