Stalin slams Shah’s legal and order claims in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday strongly criticized union home minister Amit Shah for claiming that the law and order in the state have deteriorated. Stalin accused the Home Secretary of the attempt to disturb peace with peace in a harmonious and gradual state of Tamil Nadu while failing to control the situation in the BJP-rule Manipur, with more than 250 people killed in the past 18 months.

Stalin said the Interior Minister “totally condemned” with the intention of inciting public fear. He linked Shah’s comments to the newly announced BJP-AIADMK alliance, calling it a desperate and opportunistic move that “does arise as it did in the past”.

Stalin questioned the ideological disconnect between the allies and lacked doubts about key policy positions. “Amit Shah only guaranteed Chennai’s Common Minimum Program (CMP) but failed to explain whether it included AIADMK’s objection to NEET, Hindi imposition, trilingual policy or lowered constituency under division,” he said.

Stalin also criticized Shah for monopolizing the press conference in Chennai, where AIADMK Secretary-General Edappadi K. Palaniswami did not allow a speech. He accused Shah of using the platform to personally attack him and the DMK government rather than addressing urgent public concerns.

Stalin emphasized the contrast between the two alliances, saying that the DMK represents state rights, language freedom and Tamil culture, while the BJP-AIADMK alliance is based on “desire for power” and goes against these ideals.

He claimed that Palaniswami had previously compromised the dignity and rights of Tamil Nadu to maintain the BJP in Delhi. “The people of Tamil Nadu will not forget this,” he said.

Stalin aimed at Shah’s defense against Neet, and the interior minister called for opposition to Neet as a “transfer strategy” to lean towards effective issues. He refers to the suicide of students in Tamil Nadu, which is related to NEET, and he asked: “Did more than 20 students seeking transfer die?”

He also noted that CBI, including arrested students and parents, has conducted an ongoing investigation into NEET malfeasance in five states, noting that Bihar has also witnessed suicide due to NEET pressure.

Stalin questioned the BJP’s credibility for corruption in alliance with AIADMK, reminding the public that the late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had to resign twice on transplant charges. He claimed that after the raid of central agencies, AIADMK staff flocked to the BJP, and the coalition itself was the product of such political compromise.

“This alliance is not about governance or public interest, but about covering up corrupt leaders and achieving the BJP’s bigger goals to impose Hindi, stop Tamil progress and undermine the rights of the state through demarcation,” Stalin said.

He urged the people of Tamil Nadu to understand his so-called attempts to erode the country’s cultural and political identity.
