What is the charge?

The first allegation was that Siri recorded the user’s private conversation without consent. Additionally, it is accused of recording sensitive conversations without permission and automatically activated at any time. Another allegation is that it began recording sensitive and personal information, including medical information in conversations with individuals and sharing the recordings with third parties.

Apple’s clarification

Apple strongly denied all these allegations. The company clarified that Siri aims to preserve users’ privacy. It will not invade any privacy. Responding to the allegations of the sale of information to third parties, it insisted that it never used voice messages or recordings for any commercial purpose. It also did not sell it to any third party. However, to resolve the case, Apple will receive a maximum compensation of $100, or INR 8,500. However, not everyone is eligible for this salary.

Qualification payment

1. Only those living in the United States are eligible for compensation. Indian users cannot enjoy this compensation.

2. Users who use Siri on Apple devices from September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024 are only eligible.

3. Users can use up to 5 devices, including iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, Apple Watches, HomePods, iPod Touch and Apple TV. Users can get up to $20 per device, which can constitute up to $100.

4. Users will have to apply and submit a valid claim to receive compensation.
