Nizam Raunaq Yar Khan unveiled for the 9th time

Hyderabad: On Heritage Day, under the guidance of JNAFAU (Government University), a fascinating exhibition was opened at JNAFAU (Government University), showing sketches by the renowned cartoonist and artist Subhani, Mr. Harikrishna Mamidi, Director of Heritage and Culture of the Government of Telangana.

The event, held from April 18 to April 20, 2025, celebrates the long history of Telangana through art, with a particular focus on the huge legacy of the Asafia dynasty.

The first ceremony featured the famous Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, the 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, who joined Mr. Harikrishna and other VIPs to ignite the ritual lamps, including Ramna, President of the Hyderabad Art Society, and Mr. Gangadhar, the president of the university. The event underscores the importance of protecting the heritage through artistic expression, with Subhani’s sketches being the bridge between the past and the present.

Subhani expressed his gratitude and joy for the opening ceremony of Nawab Raunaq, highlighting the importance of showing the architectural beauty of numerous palaces and buildings related to the Asaf Jahi dynasty. His work not only respects Telangana’s legacy, but also arouses pride in the community.

Nawab, a longtime admirer of Subhani’s work in the comic field in major British newspapers, praised the artist’s unique ability to blend wit and depth in his sketches. “His art provides humorous and profound reflections on the events of the day, revealing insights into the complex tapestry of politics and culture,” said Nawab Raunaq.

The Heritage Exhibition also includes sketches by Telangana Martyrs Memorial designed by Mr Ramana, emphasizing the continuity of the heritage from the Kakatiya dynasty to the modern Telangana.

Subhani, a recipient of numerous acclaim for his artistic efforts, expressed his commitment to the use of art as a tool for cultural conservation and education. The three-day event has made a significant contribution to Hyderabad’s cultural landscape, celebrating the region’s artistic talent and rich history.
