Appointment of former head of EAC

New Delhi: The Centre appointed former ED Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra as a full-time member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Committee (EAC-PM).
A government order issued on Tuesday said Mishra, an official of the Indian Taxation Agency (IRS) income tax cadre in 1984, will serve as a full-time member of the EAC-PM after approval by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The order also stated that from the date of postal work he had been appointed as Secretary of the Government of India, which, in accordance with the usual terms and conditions, applies to government officials who have reemployed.
The EAC-PM is a “independent” body designed to provide advice to the Indian government, especially to the Prime Minister on economic and related issues. Its current chairman is economist Suman Berry. In November 2024, after the death of its former chairman Bibek Debroy, a vacant body appeared.
Mishra served as Director of the Law Enforcement Bureau until September 15, 2023, when the Supreme Court petition to the government granted him multiple extensions weakened his extension.
During Mishra’s tenure, Ed investigated many high-profile people and politicians, including the first family of Congress, such as Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi, unlike several chief ministers, ministers, ministers, Mlas and MPS, the tool is made by opposing the law, a crime against the law. BJP stipulates the requirements of the center.
He was appointed as ED Director in October 2018 and served as the second place in the head of the agency for five years. Am Chatterjee, the first director of the Enforcement Bureau, served up to 7.5 years from 1957 to 1965. The Alliance Government promoted Sanjay Mishra to the Secretaryship position, while he led the ED, an additional secretary position for the existing government government.
