RIL is developing a comprehensive compressed biogas (CBG) hub in the southern states and began construction work at its first CBG plant on April 2 (April 2). The company plans to develop 500 such plants in coastal states.

Ril said in a stock exchange filing that its first CBG plant in Andhra Pradesh was laid by the state’s IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh. The ceremony was held in the town of Kanigiri in the Prakasam district.

For the CBG factory, Reliance will use approximately 500,000 acres of barren and waste land in Prakasam, Anantapur, Chittoor and Kadapa. When all plants are fully operational, they will produce 4 million tons of CBG and 1.1 million tons of organic fertilizer each year, the company said.

The CBG project is expected to create up to 2,50,000 jobs for rural youth in Andhra Pradesh.

The total capital investment of the RIL project is Rs 650,000 crore. “The plant will be developed through innovative technologies and utilize napier grass,” Lille said.

“The project will generate significant livelihoods for the rural economy by paying leasing income to farmers, and in addition to the fixed price of grass grown by farmers.”
