A married Arkansas couple will spend the rest of their lives in jail after their two-year-old child died in a hot car with three siblings.
Deja, 27, and Justin Rollins, 30, were sentenced to 70 years in prison Friday when he brought his three-year-old to Arkansas Children’s Hospital on July 7, 2024.
Jacksonville police received reports that the three-year-old boy responded to the scene due to “emergency medical treatment”.
During the investigation, they soon discovered that they had more children – but Deja and Justin refused to tell police where they were.
Authorities quickly found the young people in the parking lot and reminded the hospital that they were able to turn on the car and release them.
All four children were exhausted and were treated in the hospital, but sadly, just one day later, two-year-old Jay’dien Rollins died of injuries.
Prosecutors said the couple’s unidentified three-year-old also died of “severe malnutrition” and Jay’dien showed signs.

Pulaski County Attorney Will Jones said the case was “the most disturbing” they have ever dealt with.
“This case is one of the most disturbing and heartbreaking cases that our office has encountered,” Jones said.
Protecting children is a top priority for the office. Without greater responsibility, we will continue to do our best to ensure that those who hurt children are fully responsible. ”
During the investigation, police also found a malnourished dog at their home in Jacksonville and handed it over to Jacksonville Animal Services.
It is not clear who is caring for the surviving children.

Her mom found her unresponsiveness on July 9 outside her family home in Marana, north of Tucson, Arizona.
Erika Scholtes, who worked as a doctor at the hospital pronounced dead in Parker, found a toddler in a 4.08pm car, according to surveillance video.
A few minutes later, a painful Scholtes called 911 and coached through CPR.
The Pima County Medical Examiner said that when the first responder arrived, the girl’s temperature had reached 108.9f, almost the same as the 109f outside the vehicle that day.
The father of three rejected a deal that would see his allegations of the murder of Parker Scholtes, the two men lowered from first-class murder to second-degree murder.
His refusal means the matter will now be transferred to trial, and if guilty, he can sentence life or even death in prison.
