Arunachal BJP MP raises concerns about China’s “big bend dam” action

Experts on Tuesday expressed concern about China’s proposal for the “big bend dam” on Yarlung Tsangpo, as Brahmaputra is well-known in Tibet.
During a workshop, experts highlighted the destructive effects of a series of proposed dams aimed at producing 60,000 megawatts of electricity.
“Brahmaputra, the son of Brahma, is the only male river that originated in Mansarovar. China has only three major rivers and water shortages. Tibetan scientists point out that the Chinese have begun to build tunnels that have moved from Yarlung Tsangpo to the Yellow River, turning the water to the Yellow River,” Gao said. “I told China in Lok Sabha that it is not building dams, but creating ‘water bombs’. The possible disaster was first glimpsed in 2000,” the MP said.
