Arunachal Pradesh CM Khandu says Northeast changes have been better since PM Modi takes charge

Khandu praised his Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma as a dynamic leader in the Northeast and an outstanding figure in the political situation of the country. Khandu expressed his gratitude to Sarma for attending the Mopin Festival in Arunachal Pradesh, saying that his love for his sister state and its people is reflected in his presence in Aalo, among thousands of Galos in the white Galos.
He said: “Since Modiji became Prime Minister and Himantaji became Chief Minister of Assam, the entire northeast has witnessed a complete change in the pace of governance and development. Assam has played a major role in the region as a country. Everything that happens in Assam will affect all of us,” he said.
Khandu believes Himanta brings peace in the region, which he said is the only way to develop. He said the decades of rebellion that affected Assam had affected Arunachal Pradesh, which shared a long interstate border with Assam, was almost done due to Himanta’s efforts and the efforts and blessings of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
“As the rebellion disappeared, we all witnessed great developments that are underway not only in Assam, but in all Northeastern states,” Khandu noted.
He said the Assam government’s “advantage Assam” plan will be a game changer in the region. “Assam is portrayed as an investment hub and other states in the region will benefit as investors want to expand their operations in the region,” Khandu said. It is only possible due to the active role of the Chief Minister of Assam.
“The committees in both states will be revisited except for some pockets, and almost all border issues have been resolved. We are optimistic and these issues will be resolved soon,” Khandu added.
Sarma said, “Arunachal Pradesh is not just a state; it is a living, breathing canvas of cultural magnificence. It is a land where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously. In this state natural beauty is as mesmerizing as the warmth of its people. Here every festival, dance and dish tells a story of heritage and pride and as we celebrate the essence of Arunachal Pradesh, let us cherish and honour the incredible diversity This makes Arunachal Pradesh and our country very extraordinary”.
Salma said that once this neglected region and under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he is now on the cusp of historical transformation. For decades, infrastructure and underinvestment, especially in connectivity, have hindered the region’s growth, leaving it economically and geographically isolated. But through the Prime Minister’s visionary initiatives, such as “through Transport Transformation” and “ACT East Policy,” the Northeast region has witnessed unprecedented developments in connectivity, infrastructure and economic integration. This paradigm shift unlocks the region’s huge potential, positioning it as a remote perimeter and a gateway to Southeast Asia’s fastest growing economy.
He said that based on the current allocation in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the border dispute between the two states will be completely resolved. He also said that considering Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s deep love and affection for Arunachal Pradesh and vice versa, this is the 2026 “Centenary Celebration of Brahmaputra of Brahmaputra of Brahmaputra of Brahmaputra of Bard of the Bard of the Bard of the Barrahmaputra” and the state of Assam, it will also be celebrated at Arunachal Pradesh.
