“We don’t want Tiktok to turn black”: Trump extends deadline by 75 days | World News

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that his administration has been working to “save Tiktok” and said he will sign an executive order to make the app run for an additional 75 days.

Trump shared an article on the social media platform truth, “My administration has been working to save a deal from Tiktok and we have made tremendous progress. This deal requires more work to ensure that all the necessary approvals are signed, which is why I signed the execution order to keep Tiktok running for an additional 75 days.”

Trump further expressed his hope that the discussions with China will continue to be “integrity” and acknowledged China’s dissatisfaction with the U.S.’s reciprocity tariffs. His defense of these tariffs is crucial to ensuring fair and balanced trade between the two countries. Trump stressed that the goal is to prevent Tiktok from “going black”.

“We want to continue to work sincerely with China, and I understand that China is not very satisfied with our reciprocal tariffs (necessary for fair and balanced trade between China and the United States!). This proves that tariffs are the most powerful economic tool and are very important to our national security! We do not want Tiktok to be “black” with Tiktok. We look forward to working with Tiktok and Chinaers to get you to your attention.

According to CNN, the news comes a day before the ban begins to take effect after the first 75 days after Trump took office in January.

Last year, former President Joe Biden enacted a law that authorized Tiktok’s parent company, China-based Bytedance, to sell the app or face a ban in the U.S. due to national security concerns. Although the law was originally scheduled to take effect in January, Trump announced that he would postpone its enforcement in order to negotiate a deal to keep the app “live”.

A veterinary spokesman said Tiktok’s parent company “has been discussing with the U.S. government about our potential solutions to Tiktok.”

“There is no agreement yet. There are key issues to be resolved. Any agreement will be approved by Chinese law,” CNN reported.
