In the global order under loss, every region needs to pay attention to itself: Jaishankar of Bimstec | Indian News

Bangkok: U.S. President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs, external affairs minister Jaishankar said Thursday that the world is turning to a self-help era and that every region needs to pay attention to itself. Speaking at the 20th Bimstec Ministerial Office, Jaishankar said that shorter supply chains and direct neighbors had more significance than before.

“The reality is that the world is turning to a self-help era. Every region needs to be aware of itself, whether it is food, fuel and fertilizer supply, vaccines or a rapid disaster response,” said Jaishankar. “What we are seeing is the development before our eyes. The times have really changed. Supply chains and direct neighbors are more significant than before.”

Jaishankar is here to participate in Bimstec (Bay of Bengal Multi-Section Technology and Economic Cooperation Initiative) Minister Narendra Modi will join the leaders of Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Myanmar, Myanmar and Farotan to promote consistency in cooperation with Maritime amitemimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimimime,

The minister said the Bimstec summit was a “very uncertain and turbulent” when the global order itself was “a time of visible loss.” “This should encourage us to reach Bimstec from a more ambitious perspective. The overview of the new command has not started to become visible until now, and it is essentially more regional and agenda-specific,” Jaishankar said.

“The era of power underwriting the international system is now lagging behind. Our impact on our prospects is largely up to ourselves. As a developing country facing numerous challenges, this is doing better than individuals.” Jaishankar said India, especially the Northeast of India, is becoming the connection center for Bimstec and has countless networks of roads, railways, waterways, grids and pipelines, Jaishankar said, “The completion of the triangular highway will connect to the northeast of India and connect it to Pacific Ocean, a viable ocean game, realistic game game.”

Jaishankar also said that the countries around the Bay of Bengal have both shared interests and shared concerns, which have attracted attention from history, while other priorities cover the well-being of the region. “Whether it’s connectivity, trade, investment or service among BIMSTEC members, we will fulfill its true potential. Now, if that is to be changed, the past and the future are our friends,” he said. From an Indian perspective, Jaishankar said Bimstec represents three of three key initiatives – ACT East policy, Neighborhood’s First Approach and Maha-Sagar Outlook.

“This is also a pathway to our Indo-Pacific commitments. To promote Bimstrek, all India does is to draw the best from all and then work in concert with our collective efforts.” On March 12, Modi announced India’s new vision for the global South and named it “Mahasagar” or a common whole to promote overall progress in security and growth, a policy approach in China’s relentless attempt to expand its influence in the Indian Ocean.

The Mahasagar vision is based on the Sagar (Safety and Growth for All in the Region) policy that Modi first announced during his visit to Mauritius in 2015.
