Kiren Rijiju said: “The WAQF Act is not anti-Muslim, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee incites violence”

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said Tuesday that the WAQF Act is not aimed at the Muslim community but is intended to correct “wrongs from the past.”

He accused West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee of “inciting violence” in his state by opposing the enforcement of the law.

Rijiju said at a press conference held in Kochi that the government’s intention is to ensure that in India no one “forced, unilaterally” takes away other people’s land.
He met with residents of Munambam Village, mostly Christians in Kerala, in Ernakulam area, who strongly supported the central government led by the BJP when signing the law amendment.

They claim that the WAQF board illegally demands its land and property.

Rijiju said the WAQF law was amended because some of the provisions gave “unprecedented powers and powers of the WAQF board.”
