Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma discusses ambitious satellite project with ISRO, NHIDCL, Joint Fertilizer Secretary

In a meeting with the ISRO chairman of Assam in New Delhi, Salma outlined the space cooperation between the Assam government and the Indian government space (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre) with its own satellite, Assam Sat satellite. “Assamsat will help ensure ongoing data flows to implement critical socio-economic projects and provide many dedicated services for agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, as well as safe border management and police operations,” Sarma quipped.
The ISRO Chairman assured the Chief Minister that his organization would provide full support to the realization of Assam’s vision of having its own satellite.
Later, Assam tweeted on X, CMO: “HCM @Himantabiswa had a fascinating meeting with ISRO Chairman Shri V. Narayanan discussing Assam’s vision to launch its own satellites aimed at enhancing flood management, policy planning and border monitoring.”
ISRO has guaranteed full support in achieving this ambitious initiative. HCM praised ISRO’s outstanding work and called its scientists the real inspiration for every Indian. ”
Sarma met on Monday, Dr. Krishan Kumar, Managing Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). During the meeting course with the Chief Minister, Dr. Kumar discussed the ongoing highway project under NHIDCL in Assam. The Chief Minister also requested the Managing Director to Expedite the ongoing highways and bridge projects, including the 19.28 km long 4-lane bridge over Brahmaputra River connecting Dhubri in Assam and Phulbari in Meghalaya, Rs.25,000 crore Guwahati-Silchar Express Way, Numaligarh Gohpur under water tunnel and expansion of the National Highway network from Baihata Chariali to Tezpur and Gohpur to Kulajan.
Later taking to the micro-blogging platform X Sarma posted, “Today in my meeting with Dr. Krishan Kumar, Managing Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, I reviewed the status of key infra projects in Assam being implemented by the agency: Rs25,000 crore Guwahati Silchar Express Way, Numaligarh Gohpur under water tunnel Expansion of the National Highway network from Baihata Chariali to Tezpur and Gohpur to Kulajan.”
The Chief Minister will also meet with the union secretary, Rajat Kumar Mishra, Fertilizer Ministry, and discuss a range of issues regarding the new fertilizer plant established in Namrup.
Sarma said: “We are on track to ensure the time limit for the Brownfield Ammonia Group of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Company Ltd. (BVFCL) in Namrup, which recently received approval from the Alliance Cabinet.
Today, in Delhi, the union’s fertilizer secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra met with me to discuss the current progress of this key initiative. ”
The coalition cabinet approved a proposal to establish a new brownfield ammonia urea complex with an estimated project cost of Rs 106,014 crore, last time it was Rs 106,014 crore.
