Assam conducts civil defense simulation exercises to enhance emergency preparedness

Guwahati: Regional-level civil defense simulation exercises were conducted at 20 locations in Assam according to the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior (MHA).The simulation exercises were conducted in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. “The simulation exercises were conducted in several areas of Assam to raise awareness about how to protect themselves and help others in emergencies,” said a police officer.
The civil defense simulation exercise was held in 244 regions across India, marking the first such exercise in decades in the country. In Assam, the exercise was conducted at 20 locations, 16 of which belong to Class II and four to Class III.
The large-scale simulation exercise simulated the air strike scenario and tested coordination among multiple agencies, including police, civil defense, fire service, SDRF, health department, health department, generator, educational institution, etc. The exercise is designed to assess emergency response preparations.

A comprehensive civil defense simulation exercise was successfully conducted in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, demonstrating the region’s preparation for potential disasters.


The simulation exercise was organized under the supervision of the regional administration and was conducted at the four designated event sites in the Tawang Old Market, the Khandro Drowa Zangmo Regional Hospital and Masang Dung Rhuemey of the ANM School. Deputy Deputy Commissioner Sangey Wangmu Mosobi said: “Although this is a simulation exercise, we must be vigilant and take it seriously to ensure we are prepared for real-life emergencies. Our goal is to minimize damage to life and property by preparing for the best efforts.”

The Police Chief of Dr. DW Thongon provided a detailed briefing on the simulated scene involving air strikes on key buildings in the old market.
