Civil Supply Minister Nadendla Manohar said that if Millers violated norms related to Paddy procurement with government-defined support prices and trouble farmers’ support prices, they would take harsh action. The announcement is in response to farmers’ complaints about Taiwan Mill owners.
The minister, together with NTR regional collectors G. Lakshmisha and Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad, inspected a rice field procurement center in Gollapudi Market Yard. He also visited Rayanapadu and Pydurupadu and spoke to farmers.
The minister noted that the NDA government has been supporting Millers, with the conference totaling Rs 4 billion.
“But if Millers bother farmers. Farmers can sell rice at support prices in their nearest Rythu Seva Kendra, the government will take strict action,” he said.
During Kharif, the minister said that during the period, 600,000 farmers in the state purchased 3.8 million tons of Paddy, worth Rs 83 billion.
The government is ensuring that farmers arrive within 24 hours after purchasing rice. In the NTR area, the minister assured farmers that all rice fields would be purchased and that no farmers were worried.
Mr Manohar said the government immediately shifted its focus to the Nellore area after the last purchase of Paddy for Kharif on March 31, with no bag of Paddy in the past two years, adding that the government recently purchased 130 million tons of Paddy.
