At least 21 people were killed and 30 were injured as passenger buses glided on a cliff in Sri Lanka

Police said at least 21 people were killed and more than 30 others were injured after a passenger bus glided from a cliff in Sri Lanka on Sunday. The accident occurred in Kotmale, a central province, when the bus driver tried to turn left to the hilly area.
Police said the state transport body-owned bus was taking 75 passengers from the pilgrimage site in southern Kataragama to the northwest town of Kurunegala, when it was 100 meters from the cliff.
Transport and Expressways Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena said 21 people died in the accident. More than 30 passengers were also injured in the tragedy. Fatal bus accidents are common in Sri Lanka and are often caused by reckless driving and poorly maintained roads.
