At least 8 people were killed and four injured, temporary structure collapsed at the Temple Festival held in Visakhapatnam

Eight people were killed and four others were injured during the Chandanotsavam festival at Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. According to officials, a 20-foot stretcher gave up at about 2:30 a.m. as devotees gathered at the temple for the annual festival. The National Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) immediately launched search and rescue efforts.
“So we are not suitable to conclude the cause of the incident. On the surface, we noticed a downpour between 2.30am and 3.30am. We are investigating this incident… Currently, we have information that about eight people have died. All the debris have died.
Shortly after the collapse, Vangalapudi Anitha, Minister of State Houses and Disaster Management, visited the site and reviewed the rescue operations.


“There was heavy rain. All precautions were taken. This was unfortunate.” The authorities have not provided details about the cause of the structural failure. The area has been blocked as rescue teams continue to search for anyone who might be trapped.
