My statement is neither rhetoric nor alarmist. As a public representative, I have a responsibility to remind the authorities and the public of any potential threats to our national security. The information I share is based on a reliable source and I propose it to prompt the government to take precautions. Instead of responding in a mature and serious way, the Punjab government chose to politicize the matter and harass the opposition. This is unfortunate and a damage to public safety.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused you of engaging in “threat and panic politics” and “connections with Pakistan”. The state government also targeted you in accordance with different parts of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

This unfounded allegation reflects the despair of the government’s failure. I have been serving Punjab and the state for decades, and my record talks to myself. Linking me to Pakistan is not only defamatory, but also insulting Punjabi people suffers the greatest cross-border tensions.

As for the cases under BNSS, they are obviously politically motivated and intended to remain silent. We will face them legally and expose the government’s revenge-killing politics.

The head of the AAM AADMI Party (AAP) of Aman Arora, Punjab accused you of participating in the drug cartel in the state?

This is a heinous allegation of defamation by Mr. Aman Arora. I want to remind him and Punjab drug threats worsen under his own government watch. Rather than taking concrete actions to eliminate the problem, they indulge in cheap mud to disperse their administrative failures.

I have always been firmly opposed to drug trafficking and have always demanded strict action against those involved. If there is any evidence against me by Mr. Arora or his party, they should make it to the court, rather than make unfounded statements in the media.

The relationship between AAP and Congress is low, but in the recent AICC meeting, your party reiterated its commitment to the Indian group where AAP is a component?

At the national level, the Indian group represents a greater commitment to protecting democracy, the constitution and the federal system. That is, election dynamics vary from country to country. In Punjab, we are the main opposition and we will be responsible for the AAP government’s failure. Our struggle here is against government and corruption. But at the national level, we remain committed to unity of diversity and all decisions will bear in mind the greater good of the country.
