Bangalore Rain: 250 BMTC routes cancelled due to floods, traffic congestion

As many as 250 bus routes from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have been cancelled due to road and traffic jams. On Monday, BMTC canceled 200 bus routes.

“There is also traffic jams, and in addition, if the buses drive on the water road, it may be decomposed. So we canceled 250 routes, mainly along Hosur Road, Electronics City, Attibele and the 500-D series, which range from Hebbal to Hebbal, along Hebbal to Silkboard and other areas, along Orr Ring Road (ORR) said.”

Officials also said the Central Silk Board bus stop and electronic city bus stand were flooded.

According to the Bangalore Traffic Police Department (BTP), the BMTC bus breaks down near Allalasandra, Hebbal, Minto Junction, Tumakuru Road, Mahadevapura, Kadirenahalli Bridge and Thubarahalli in Yelahanka.

On Monday, the bus warehouses in Shantinagar and HSR layouts were flooded and several buses were unable to be taken out of the warehouse. Passengers also disassembled from the bus after water near the silk board entered the water.

Rising pricing for ride-hailing apps

Commuters also have to pay an additional fee of Rs 50-60 on Tuesday’s ride-hailing app as it takes effect due to rainfall.

“While we can ride an automatic boat on other days, it is safer to take a taxi when it rains. The same automatic vehicle ride, it costs me 220 on normal days, and I spend 320 on Tuesday afternoon when it rains because it rains, all ride apps have price emerging on all ride apps.”
