The minister said the expressways ministry will extend the estimate for Perumanallur-Kunnathur for the current fiscal year.

The expressway department will prepare estimates on the four-lane expressway between Gobichettipalayam and Dharapuram and Perumanallur and Kunnathur.

In response to an inquiry from AIADMK lawmaker Ka Sengottaiyan, Mr Velu said traffic intensity was one of the factors that decided to lay a four-lane expressway. Mr Velu said the traffic intensity of the two extensions will be consulted and estimated during the financial year.

In his speech, Mr. Sengottaiyan said that there were several accidents on the road between Gobi and Dharapram and inspected and extended it to four lanes.

Similarly, the four lanes between Perumanal and Kunasel were inspected. The former minister further sought further for the government to speed up the steps to turn it into four lanes.
