Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) called on the state government to immediately stop attacking the lives and property of Hindus in the WAQF ACT-related protests in West Bengal and demand compensation for victims.
It also asserts that if such incidents occur repeatedly elsewhere in the state, the intervention of the center will become necessary.
The VHP National Secretary General (Organization) addressed Milind Parande, a journalist in Siliguri, and criticized Siddiqullah Chowdhury and Firhad Hakim, two of the country’s TMC ministers, to show their statements about the violence and praised these “provocative and unwilling”.
Mr. Paland said that Bengali Hindus fled homes in the Dalian area of Murhidabad and avoided shelters in the neighboring Malda area to escape from attacks from the “jihadist tyrants”, which is reminiscent of “the past Kashmiri Pandits emerged from Egypt from Jamu and Kashmir”.

He said the West Bengal government should ensure that “in any anti-Waqf (Amendment) incitement” or laws and order elsewhere in the state do not deteriorate in Siliguri.
“Otherwise, central government intervention will become necessary,” Paland said.
The VHP leaders said the attacks on Hindus in parts of Merhidabad were “shocking but wandering events” in comments by West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim, and the VHP leaders said: “This is a question of shame and a “contingent approach” for the Mamata Banerjee government in the tougher Mamata Banerjee government in the region.
“The government must ensure (providing safety and compensation to the victims) rather than making such statements, but instead booking atrocities against the Hindus for the victims and attackers and inciteers.
Mr Hakim also called on protests against the WAQF Act (Amendment) to incite the central government, “This is behind the passage of the bill and protests in Delhi, rather than targeting state property and indulging in arson.”
Hakim blamed certain forces for “wanting to polarize the political gains of Bengali people”, and Hakim asserted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had spoken about the act and assured the Muslim community her government position.
Parande is also known as “provocative”, a recent statement from West Bengal Minister Siddiqulla Chowdhury saying protests against the WAQF Act will spread in these areas and then in Kolkata, and called for legal action against him.
He said these TMC leaders could not escape the attack on “the attack on the Shamsherganj of Hindus, India, Suti and Meshidabad, to say the least, was condemned”.
Mr. Paland demanded that central forces be deployed in certain sensitive areas of the state to save lives and property.
He hopes that on the occasion of the New Year of Bangladesh, he added: “Peace, order and rule of law are to be established in West Bengal. Let the attacks on the lives and property of Hindus in the country stop in the name of the WAQF movement.”
