Bar Association suspends membership of senior advocates accused of assaulting junior women attorneys

Vanchiyoor police have investigated the attack by senior advocate Beyline Das on a junior female lawyer who worked in his office on Tuesday.

After the incident, the Tiruvananthapuram Bar Association suspended members of the defendant’s lawyers, who practiced in the Vanikoye District Court.

Police registration case

Police registered a case under section 126(2) (unlawful restrictions), 74 (moodiness to modesty by attack or criminal force) and 115(2) (voluntary injury).

The alleged attack occurred at Mr. Darth’s office around 12:30 pm, causing the woman to suffer a facial injury. The dispute was apparently triggered by a dispute between her and another junior advocate in the office.

The female lawyer told media people here that Mr Darth had instructed her not to report work on Thursday after the disagreement, but later asked her to return the next day. She claimed she had been physically manipulated on Tuesday when she asked to know why she was asked to stay away.

After the incident, she was taken to a general hospital for treatment. Bar Association President Pallichal SK Pramod refused to accuse the woman of being denied aid, saying the lawyer’s fraternity was in solidarity with her.

He added that the association’s office veteran rushed to the hospital shortly after hearing about the incident.

The Indian Bar Association (IAL) Thiruvananthapuram District Committee requested Mr. Das to deport from the main members of the Bar Association. The organization said his actions were an embarrassment to the legal community and an infringement of the rights of female lawyers.
