The Ukrainian president further stressed that despite Russia’s attempt to create the impression of a ceasefire, Ukraine will continue to respond accordingly.
“In general, as of Easter morning, we can point out that the Russian army is trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, while in some areas it is still continuing to promote in isolation and cause losses to Ukraine. Russia must fully comply with the ceasefire situation. Ukraine’s recommendations were implemented in the midnight situation and extended for 30 days, and we will continue in reality for 30 days. Zelenskyy added.
Zelenskyy claimed on Saturday (local time) that despite Moscow’s announcement of a ceasefire on Easter, the Russian offense did not “sweep”.
Zelenskyy said in an article on X that Russia’s attacks are underway in multiple front-line departments and Moscow’s words do not have “trust”.
“As of now, according to the Commander-in-Chief’s report, Russia’s attacks continue in multiple front-line departments and the Russian artillery fire has not disappeared. Therefore, Moscow’s verbal distrust of Moscow. How Moscow’s manipulation of Moscow is carried out, we are ready for anything,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.
Zelenskyy also said Russia rejected a proposal for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire, noting that a 30-hour ceasefire on Easter is not enough to build “real confidence.”
“The Russian side announced an Easter ceasefire from 06:00 this afternoon to 00:00 am on Monday. This is for humanitarian reasons. I hereby order all military operations to stop.”
This is the second ceasefire since the conflict began in 2022. An attempt to cease fire during Orthodox Christmas in January 2023 failed to reach a consensus on the proposal during Orthodox Christmas in January 2023.
