Tirumala sees a surge in pilgrims after intermediate results

tirupati: Thousands of people arrived at the hills after Tirumala’s intermediate inspection results in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The weekend schedule further increased influx, resulting in longer waiting times, and accommodation in Darshan is under great pressure.
As of 7 p.m., 54,356 devotees owned Lord Venkateswara’s Darshan. Sarva Darshan’s queue line has no token insertion line extending to the Narayanagiri area, with an estimated waiting time from 14 to 16 hours. All compartments remain filled and devotees were seen navigating tight queues in early summer temperatures. On Saturday, TTD reported that there were 72,923 pilgrims Darshan, 35,571 pilgrims offered Tonsure, with a collection of Rs 3333 crore.
The increasing turnout among pilgrims has led to overstretching of the facilities maintained by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The long waiting in line remains a major concern for devotees, especially those without Selva Dashan (SSD) tokens. Drinking water, Annaprasadam, medical assistance and shelters were arranged along the queue line, but numerous visitors face challenges in ensuring a smooth movement.
Accommodation in Tirumala is completely occupied, forcing many devotees who have no prior reservation to rest in the queue complex and open areas. TTD staff were deployed other numbers to regulate the crowd and assist pilgrims. Authorities urge tourists without SSD tokens to plan their trips on slim days to avoid prolonged delays and congestion.
