Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) levied property tax of Rs 493 crore in fiscal year 2024-25, while the total collected amount was Rs 391.18 crore, an increase of approximately Rs 10 billion, which was about Rs 10 billion compared to Rs 2023-24.
Although BBMP’s overall target for this year is Rs 521,047 crore, 94.62% was collected.
Overtake the target
Yelahanka Zone exceeded the BBMP target to reach a tax collection of 104.36% with a value of Rs 464.66 crore, followed by the Mahadevapura district, which collects 100.12% and collects 1,310.58 crore, which is also the highest amount collected in all regions.
South Zone had revenue of 95.34%, East Zone had revenue of 93.52%, while Dasarahalli District collected 93.52%, 93.52%, 93.4 crore, 92.72%. The West Region ranked sixth with Rs 56.261 crore (92.17%) collected, Rajarajeshwari Nagar collected Rs 38.175 crore (87.89%), while Bommanahalli had a minimum percentage of 83.75%, collecting € 490.03.

How it is implemented
BBMP attributes this achievement to many measures taken, including the one-time solution (OTS) program introduced in February 2024. The plan abandons complex interest on the arrears and reduces fines by 50%, reducing significant relief to the Defaulters.
The system’s work and IT-based arrears and current tax payments, issuance of SOPs and rules for restoring arrears and door-to-door follow-up to defaults and current taxes are other reasons provided by BBMP Special Specialist (Revenue) Munish Moudgil.
He further said: “This all happens without an increased property tax rate, which is the same as in 2016. For this fiscal year (2025-26), we will exceed Rs 6,000 crore.
Officials said that after the OTS program expired in November 2024, the BBMP decided to auction the property of long-term defaulters prompted the removal of most of them dues.
