BBMP reports rainfall in Bangalore, 68 fallen trees

On Friday, rain continued in the city, causing widespread incidents of trees and branches falling. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reported 68 cases of tree fall, with 93 branches falling across the city.

On Vanivilas Road, a tree falls on the wire, causing panic among residents and causing traffic congestion. BESCOM quickly cut off the power to prevent accidents, while forests, police and traffic officials arrived at locations where debris were removed and traffic was managed, BBMP officials said. After the tree was removed, the situation was controlled.

In the southern region, two cars were damaged due to the fall of trees, while in the Dasala Hari area, another car was damaged. According to the BBMP's control room, no injuries were reported.

BBMP Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao visited the Citizens’ Agency’s Control Room and the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) on Friday night. He reviewed the situation and issued instructions to all regional commissioners and officials to take precautionary measures and respond quickly to citizen complaints.

According to a BBMP press release, Mr Rao directed forest department officials to immediately remove fallen trees and broken branches lowered by strong winds. He also directed that the water that was stalled on the road was effectively discharged into the side flow to prevent further disturbances.

The BBMP has urged citizens facing any rain-related problems to turn to assist with No. 1533.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 6.1mm of rainfall at the Bangalore city station, and 6.4mm of rainfall was held at the HAL station at 8.30pm on Friday.

It is reported that in several areas of Bangalore, especially in Bangalore, MG Road, Hosur Road, Goraguntepalya, Mysuru Road, Tumakuru Road, Old Madras Road and other key extensions of the city.
